Perinatologist Visit

Went to the doc today..well, we actually went last Wednesday and were WRONG on the day. How embarrassing. Id like to say that was the only time it has ever happened. Today was right. Their new building is BEAUTIFUL--I bet those ladies are loaded!
Side note...one of my good friends found out she is pregnant after trying for a while!!!! YAY!!!! Melissa!!!! Baby Dust!!!

Anyway, baby is about 10 weeks along and is the size of a kumquat. (I had to look that one up, Ive never had a kumquat) We saw a little tiny arm flailing and his/HER heartbeat was strong and steady. No issues. Yay! I am much less worried this pregnancy about diseases/miscarriage/deformities and such. I suppose since I have one healthy guy Im happy with knowing I have him. Plus worrying doesnt do much good. Here are a few new pics of Carter. As usual. Look at the mischief in his eyes getting into that cabinet.

Plastic Baby Bottles

GRRRR...Just one more thing to worry about! What is safe anymore??? We used Dr. Browns but started with Avent. We were going to use Avent with the new baby but I doubt it now according to this article. I may have to get Born Free, which clifton will hate me for. 3 sets of bottles?

Baby bottle makers sued over bisphenol A use
Thu, Jun 19, 2008 (HealthDay News) — Five baby bottle makers are facing a lawsuit over their use of the chemical bisphenol A, the Associated Press reported. In the suit filed last week in U.S. District Court, four Ohio parents allege the companies knew that bisphenol A was associated with health problems. The lawsuit cites scientific studies that concluded the chemical seeped from plastic bottles and sippy-cups into liquid. The plaintiffs are seeking unspecified damages. The five companies named in the lawsuit are: Ohio-based Evenflo; Illinois-based Avent America Inc.; Missouri-based Handicraft Co.; Connecticut-based Playtex Products Inc; and the Swiss company Gerber Novartis, the AP reported.Company spokespeople either refused comment or weren't immediately available to return calls from the AP.Tests on rats suggest that bisphenol A may be associated with brain and behavior changes, early puberty and possible precancerous changes in the prostate and breast, the wire service said. -- HealthDay

Ohhh..Look at that Tread

This wasnt intended to be one of those bitch at life blogs. Actually, it was supposed to be a happy-look at my beautiful kid and happy family blog for grandparents and such. But, its about to take an angry turn. I bought new tires today, had my car inspected and oil changed for $600 friggin dollars! That is the most ridiculous, boring excuse for spending $600 I've ever heard of. Ok, for the safety of my child and me, I can see where some of you will argue, however, I just spent $600 and I do not feel ANY sense of retail therapy I would have expected from spending that much money. Think of all the fun stuff I could have bought with that. Clifton says "look at that tread"...all proud and happy and Im like...shove it...its friggin rubber.

Another thing...Im about to strangle my husband and he is about to strangle me. No, it isnt nice to talk bad about your husband on your happy "family site", but too bad. It is summer time and for a teacher, thats usually GREAT. You are free to do pretty much anything. But, when your husband stays at home too, there is way to much 'us' time. Seriously, I think we are about to claw each other's faces off soon. Check back, Ill post a pic when it happens. I guess I could be a BIT hormonal too. Luckily though, he is going to grant me a break and leave for Arkansas about a week early and Ill be ALL alone!!! No animals, no baby, no hubby,...just me and jellybean and the TV for a whole week! I hope it helps because Id hate to see what happens if it doesnt.

OHM, OHM...we love each other...ohm.
Here is thursday's playdate at the Speed's house. Carter wasnt in love with the idea of being in the gated in play area and after about an hour my perfectly sweet child turned embarrassingly clingy and whiny on me.

Bathtime and Playdates-Oh my

Carter loves the water. As a matter of fact, when he sees me pull the plug to drain his bathwater he splashes to the other end of the tub in the hopes I might not catch him. Also, he has gotten the stopper and put it back in after I pull it out. He even gets his face in the water sometimes but hasnt learned to blow out, but he holds his breath. In our pool, he floats in this little innertube thing from one end to the other laughing all the way. Here is a video and I KNOW I shouldnt let him stand in the shower so back off!

Also, Keller and Carter had a play date on Tuesday and we are going to the Speed's house on Thurday. Carter needs to be around other people besides us! We had a few sharing issues and Keller did get upset a few times which is hilarious to watch. Keller can walk and Carter..well he CANT...STILL. But Carter can do other things...like climb on the furniture. I guess he thought that was more important? I guess he will walk when he wants to--Im certainly not pushing the issue.

I think I can finally say (since its taken a year of waiting to see) that Carter is a sweet, smiley and happy baby. He smiles at anyone and laughs easily. Only once or twice when he was about 5-6 months do I remember him crying at someone. I think Im quite lucky, especially with Clifton's temperament mixed in there somewhere. I think he is sweet like mom said I was.

Jelly Bean's Heartbeat!

I got to see and hear the new baby's heartbeat today. I talked Clifton and Carter into staying home for some much needed privacy in the waiting room.
The heartbeat took about 2 seconds to find. It was exciting! Im right on schedule...8 weeks pregnant. Im pretty convinced its a girl but things sure would be easier if its a boy. My due date is still January 20th but I will deliver 2 weeks early which happens to be the worst teacher timing on the face of the planet. Ive lost 10 lbs since my first doctors visit 2 weeks ago...thank you morning sickness from HELL!

Carter's 1st Birthday

Carter had his first birthday on 5/24. I thought Id share some pics-even though its like two weeks later. I wish I could figure out how to put a slideshow up in here. Guess you'll have to settle for this until I figure it out.

Nana and uncle josh came from Arkansas just for Carter's birthday and so did Aunt Regina and Ashley. That was sweet of them. Carter liked having other people around for once.

As for me, I know now by first hand experience that cottage cheese is just as disgusting to throw up as you'd think. THIS BETTER BE A GIRL!

Trouble

Ifound my son dressed like a hillbilly today when I came home from school....see...Anyway, Carter is into EVERYTHING, I guess that's what you can expect coming from a 1 year old whose daddy is the same way. Everything is SOOO fun to him. He loves to get in drawers and will dangle from them 6 inches above the ground. He likes my jewelery armoire and I find all kinds of things strewn about when I come home. We have recently moved a very huge bookshelf into another room so books are everywhere and he loves crawling around with them. Maybe some day he will actually read on his own?!?

2 Under 2

So our 3 people family will in 7 months be allowed the great distinction of having 2 babies under 2. We are pregnant! Carter will be 21 months while jelly bean will be a brand new baby *girl?!?*. ? Well, the Chinese chart says girl, we will see in many more weeks to come. We are very excited about this new addition to our family and we are already mentally working overtime about how we will gracefully handle two babes. And YES, we wanted it this way in case you were wondering.

I am 7 weeks and am experiencing off and on horrendous morning sickness. The pretzels given to me by Ms. Barna today to ease my morning sickness were promptly ejected into the sink. AHH! The joys of motherhood. I'm tired, lazy and edgy but I have to remember how fast 9 months went last time.
